Moodboard for little curiosities film opening

Casting for film opening

What we need
- Do not need to see the face (close-ups and only body shots)
- Somewhat skinny
- Female
- Long, bony fingers

Why
- Not seeing the face creates suspense and an eerie feel to the video
- Skinnier people are bonier and it looks creepy
- Female because there are shots of putting on lipstick and eyeliner
- Long, bony fingers are creepy and sort of skeleton like which links to death

Who will play the part
May - this is because she can only apply SFX to herself and SFX is needed

Audience Segmentation

- Class
- Gender

- Interests

INCOMES AND SOCIAL GRADING CATEGORIZATION :

Sound Mixing from Point Break

In the lesson we had to add sound effects to the clips from point break, I decided to add sounds to make it sound as realistic as possible. I added running footsteps as well as thud noises for when the character would land on the ground during the chase scene. In addition to these sounds, I added the classic 'Wilhelm scream' sort of as a comic relief, which takes away from the tension. I used this to reference other action adventure films that will sometimes add the Wilhelm scream to a serious fight scene, for example, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, The Ring.

How Fears Are Used For Entertainment

EXTINCTION – This is when the earth no longer has people living in it; usually due to an outbreak. The people left over are forced to rebuild their lives, communities and so forth, sometimes the virus/ outbreak is still out there and infection can still happen. It refers to the fear of the unknown and being alone, left to fend for themselves.
Films: I am legend, World War Z, Children of Men, Independence day, 28 days/ weeks later
MUTILATION – This is a fear of intense physical harm or prolonged torture. The physical damage is generally permanent leading to death or lifelong scars such as missing limbs. This refers to our fear of losing parts of ourself and seeing ourselves in an unnatural state and losing our sense of wholeness.
Films: Saw franchise, 127 hours (although based on a true story), Hellraiser
LOSS OF AUTONOMY – This relates to entrapment, restriction, being forced to do things against their will, loss of freedom and choices such as being locked inside a cage or basement because of the antagonist. As humans demands we like to explore and be free, the idea of not being to be free and making our own choices can be considered a fear, this also sometimes plays with the idea of claustrophobia.
Films: Buried, Gravity, Funny games, Non-stop, Would You Rather, You’re Next, 127 hours
A FORCE MORE POWERFUL THAN HUMANS – This is the fear of a force or being that is much bigger and stronger than any humans, these forces are usually ghosts, demons, gods, . This relates to the fear of no longer being the most dominant and powerful species on earth.
Films: Devil, The Others, Poltergeist, Cabin in the Woods

One Minute film evaluation

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3ErWNBX9Rc
We watched the trailer for Warm Bodies and chose a few clips from there to replicate. We also imitated a scene in the airport that was turned into a meme

Working in a group and coming up with and deciding on an idea was initially difficult until we decided to narrow down ideas, for example, we agreed on remaking a film then by choosing a film we narrowed down by a genre we would agree on and then choosing which exact film we would want to do- which was Warm Bodies.
Working as a group during filming was difficult until we would delegate a job for each person such as makeup, props, filming, editing, directing and so on, this made filming and working together a lot easier for everyone.

Working with a camera was quite easy as we all have used a DSLR before so we had prior knowledge on how to use one. Editing seemed simple at first until we came across a few problems with trying to create a beating heart so that the zombie would seem alive but we were able to overcome that obstacle. Using audio equipment to record my voice to show what the zombie was thinking was simple as all I needed to do was press record and stop but there were some trial and error with trying to make it sound like a thought echoing through the head.

I think what went well was the fact that we were able to keep the comedic element in the zombie film as well as the cinematography being the same as the original film.
If there was more time then I would've tried to improve the make-up to make it look more similar to the film, another improvement I would make would be the lighting/ mise-en-scene as the lighting didn't create the atmosphere I exactly wanted.

If I were to do this project again I would do it in my free time instead of during school so that I could film it in a different location as well as get better actors instead of myself and people from my group who weren't as into filming ourselves.
